Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with good command of equipment design and scale up and with experience in chemical engineering processes. You are responsible for producing mechanical engineering and design deliverables for new high pressure equipment. Equipment is to be used for CO2 processes (either in gas, liquid or supercritical conditions) in relation to different applications for food, pharma or general chemical processing. Chemical engineering background is needed for better understanding of the chemical reactions and/or processes which supported the above mentioned applications. You perform engineering calculations, writes equipment specifications, solicits supplier quotations, and evaluate supplier bids. You have knowledge of industry specific customer equipment to specifications and requirements. You also mentor younger engineers and providing mechanical input to project and proposal reviews.
Description
Preparing and delivering work packages (drawings, calculations, specifications, material requisitions, etc.).
Creating project budgets, including mechanical/technical man-hour estimates and equipment costs in project proposal phases.
Sizing and specifying mechanical equipment such as autoclaves, pumps, fans, blowers, compressors (both air and process gas), and also cooling and heating systems.
Dimensioning pumps, fan/blower systems for different equipment applications.
Experience with industry codes and standards as applied to mechanical equipment, such as ASME, and European codes and standards, especially PED.
Reviewing process design documents and datasheets, P&IDS and providing mechanical input to their development and applying information on the documents to Mechanical equipment specification.
Profile
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
Experience in the petrochem or chemical industry related design.
Knowledge of use and performance of petrochem and other related industry equipment: pumps, fans and blowers, compressors, etc..
Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: piping design, valve sizing, boiler systems, thermo/heat transfer, heat exchanger, water treatment systems, cooling systems, materials handling systems and/or combustion calculations.
Strong computer skills, including familiarity with spreadsheets and engineering software (AutoCad, Inventor, etc).
Strong organizational and communication skills.
