NIKE PARTNERS WITH DYECOO TEXTILE SYSTEMS

DyeCoo Textile Systems BV, a spin-off of the FeyeCon Group, has entered into a strategic partnership with Nike, Inc. to scale waterless dyeing technology.

BEAVERTON, Ore. (February 7, 2012) – NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE) announced today it has entered into a strategic partnership with DyeCoo Textile Systems B.V. By using recycled carbon dioxide, DyeCoo’s technology eliminates the use of water in the textile dyeing process. The name “DyeCoo” was inspired by the process of “dyeing” with “CO.” The partnership is illustrative of NIKE, Inc.’s long-term commitment to designing and developing the most superior athletic performance products for athletes and its overall sustainable business and innovation strategy.

“Waterless dyeing is a significant step in our journey to serve both the athlete and the planet, and this partnership reinforces Nike’s long-term strategy and deep commitment to innovation and sustainability,”says Eric Sprunk, Nike’s Vice President of Merchandising and Product. “We believe this technology has the potential to revolutionize textile manufacturing, and we want to collaborate with progressive dye houses, textile manufacturers and consumer apparel brands to scale this technology and push it throughout the industry.”

The first Nike products manufacured with DyeCoo's technology was the  the Kenyian marathon world champion Uniform of Abel Kirui at the 2012 summer Olympics.

TEXTILE, LEATHER AND FIBER

The use of chemicals in the textile industry and the pressure it puts on our fresh water reserves pose significant problems. FeyeCon has solved these problems with its game changing CO₂ technology. Our processes not only uses less or no chemicals or water, they also consume less energy and are faster, which dramatically reduces production costs.

WATER FREE DYEING & PROCESSING

Our most revolutionary achievement is our waterless textile dyeing process. Skeptics said it could not be done, but we have proven the contrary. With the help of launching partner Nike, our joint venture DyeCoo has successfully implemented the first water free dyeing process for polyester, steadily making the dyeing business a clean business. We are currently investigating water free processes for cotton, leather and other fibers like paper.

WATER & CHEMICAL FREE CLEANING & STERILIZATION

In conventional dry cleaning processes harsh chemicals are used that are harmful for the environment and linked to serious health problems. Conventional wet cleaning consumes vast quantities of potable water. By using pressurized CO₂ the same cleaning results can be achieved but without toxic chemicals or the use of water. CO₂ has the unique ability to deactivate bacteria & contaminants and remove heavy oil-based soils, leaving virtually no secondary waste. These environmental and performance benefits translate into direct economic savings, including longer garment lifetime and lower utility consumption. Our joint venture CO2Nexus is working on commercializing these processes.
