Pharmaceutical Technology

Track Record

Many of FeyeCon’s developed technologies are currently being implemented in the marketplace. Here are a few of our prominent successes:

INNOVATIVE BIOPOLYMERS
Alginates – biodegradable biopolymers derived from algae – are very useful in medical materials. However, biopolymers obtained from natural sources contain high concentrations of endotoxins which may cause septic shock when intracorporeally released. We have developed a method to eliminate all endotoxins in alginates. As a result, the alginate has now become available for almost any medical intervention and application, even in the most delicate regions of the body. Using our methods, purified alginate is currently being produced and manufactured in numerous alginate-based medical devices.

INHALABLE PROTEIN DRUGS
As an alternative to daily injections, protein drugs can be delivered in an inhalable form. In order to enhance pulmonary drug delivery FeyeCon has developed a method to create hollow carriers. Testing has shown that the aerodynamic diameter of our hollow particles results in better absorption of the protein drugs in the body.

CONTROLLED MORPHOLOGY
A mixed morphology is found in an antipsychotic drug used for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. FeyeCon established a method to obtain a novel polymorph whereby the drug can be produced at any desired morphology with 100% purity. The technology is currently being commercially implemented.

IMPROVED MEDICAL DEVICES
Medical devices are a valuable outlet for FeyeCon’s carbon dioxide technology. Using supercritical extraction FeyeCon has developed an innovative method for the purification of polymer particles. These purified polymer particles are currently being successfully marketed by a prominent medical device company. FeyeCon produces the purified product in its in-house clean room facilities under GMP conditions.
